Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are celebrating their 73rd anniversary today. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh got married on November 20, 1947. To mark the special day, the Instagram handle of the Royal family shared a picture of the Royal couple looking at the anniversary cards that they received.

The picture shared by the Royal family showed Prince Philip holding a card made by Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as the Queen looked on. The picture also featured a few other cards and letters that the Queen and the Duke received from their well-wishers. The charming image was taken in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle.
Sharing the image, the Royal family wrote, “This new image has been released to mark the 73rd wedding anniversary of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh tomorrow. In the photograph Her Majesty and His Royal Highness are seen looking at an anniversary card made by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside other cards and letters sent by well-wishers (sic).”
To celebrate the day, the Royal family also shared a rare picture of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The throwback image of the Queen and the Duke is from 1947, when they were on their honeymoon at Broadlands in Hampshire.
The Queen was just 21 when she married Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey. It is the same place where Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in 2011.
