Maharashtra: Man, woman involved in extramarital affair found dead


A man and a woman allegedly involved in an extramarital affair have been found dead at a Thane apartment. Their decomposed bodies were discovered by the woman’s husband.

Decomposed bodies of a man and a woman were found at a flat in Ambernath in Thane district of Maharashtra on Thursday evening. The woman and has been identified as Jayanti Shah (36) and the man has been identified as Sandeep Saxena (39).

The woman had gone missing from her home on November 17 and her husband ajit had filed a missing report at the Shivaji Nagar police station.

According to police, the bodies were found by Ajit when he went to check for his wife at his colleague Sandeep Saxena’s flat. Ajit told police that his wife was having an affair with Sandeep Saxena.

Prima facie the police suspect it to be a murder-suicide case. A police official said that Sandeep Saxena had slit his throat using a stone grinder after killing Jayanti.

Police officials said that Saxena and Ajit worked at a private firm in Ambernath. Saxena visited Ajit’s residence regularly and befriended his wife Jayanti. In his statement to police, Ajit said that Jayanti and Saxena were having an affair and he had opposed it.

On November 17, Jayanti went missing and Saxena didn’t answer Ajit’s calls. On Thursday, Ajit decided to check at Saxena’s residence. When the knocks at door went unanswered, he pushed opened the door and found both Jayanti and Saxena dead in the flat. Both bodies have been sent for postmortem.
