Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday hit out at the Congress accusing the party of playing dirty politics, while saying that it has now become a threat to the nation.

Addressing media in Guwahati, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The Congress party is openly supporting J&K leaders Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah. They are not even asking their stand on the constitution, rather P Chidambaram made a statement to restore Article 370 and 35A, which was abrogated in 2019 by the central government.”

“Now, what is the role of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi? Are they with the separatist gang? Are they with the Gupkar gang? Why are they talking about electoral alliance with these Gupkar people?” Himanta Biswa Sarma asked.

“Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi must come out in front of the people of the country and clarify their stand on Article 370. They must clarify their stand on the Gupkar gang,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The BJP leader further alleged that the Congress is not only playing dangerous politics in Kashmir, but also pursuing communal agenda in Assam.

“They have started dirty communal politics with Badruddin Ajmal in Assam. Northeast and Kashmir are more sensitive places in our country. In Assam, you are playing communal politics and in Kashmir, you are playing divisive and separatist politics. Today’s Congress is separatist, divisive, communal and this party will be wiped out because no nationalist will go by their agenda of restoring Article 370,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Himanta also said: “I will give a chance to the Congress to let Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi clarify if the party is with the communal, divisive and separatist people.”
